Visual description
Usually depicted as a black or gray square with an angled top right corner, the floppy disk emoji features a metal shutter at the top, about a third of the height and half the width of the disk. A recessed groove to the left of the shutter indicates where it slides horizontally to expose the disk for reading and writing. Beneath it is a large, blank white label for a description of the disk’s content, with a colorful stripe at the top, often red or blue. Some emojis also include grooves in the bottom corners for disk alignment and a debossed arrow in the top left corner indicating the loading direction.
Microsoft’s emoji is purple, while WhatsApp’s is bright blue and upside down.
